Both Shure and Sennheiser are pro-grade 24-bit digital wireless — you can't go wrong with either. Pick whichever matches gear you already own, or whichever your sound tech prefers. If you don't have a preference, Shure is the default. Either option is great.

The one-mic kit

One speaker. One mic. Zero cable panic. MicKit 1 is the rental that solves the single most common question in live audio: “Can I get a wireless mic for Saturday?” The answer is yes, and it arrives at your door in a sealed SKB iSeries waterproof case the day before your event. Inside: a digital receiver, a bodypack transmitter, a Point Source Audio element in the body type you chose, four windscreens in four skin tones, spare clips, gaff patches, a laminated quick-start card labeled BATTERY: AA MODE, and a pre-paid return label. Drop in two AA batteries, power the receiver, power the bodypack, clip the element, say the line. You’re on air in under four minutes. No spreadsheets, no tech rider, no phone call with a sales rep.

Built for

  • Wedding officiants who need a ceremony mic without buying one
  • Guest pastors and traveling speakers doing a one-off sermon
  • Podcast hosts recording a live remote
  • Corporate keynoters doing a single fireside chat
  • Drama teachers running a Shakespeare unit with one narrator
  • TEDx-style short-form speakers

Brand selector

Choose Shure SLX-D+ or Sennheiser EW-D at checkout. Both are the same price. Shure is the RentMicKits default because more venues on the Eastern seaboard run Shure and the support network is denser; pick Sennheiser if you or your FOH engineer have a preference. Audio quality is effectively indistinguishable in rehearsal, both are 24-bit digital, both have the same real-world battery life, both lock to a receiver in under 15 seconds.
